V8 Superboats

After a 12-month sabbatical to negotiate the challenges of the global pandemic, the Penrite Australian V8 Superboats returned to action for 2021 with the opening event of the seven-round season underway at Keith on the edge of the South Australian outback..

Widely regarded as the benchmark venue for the sport, Keith was at it’s pristine best, attracting some of the top V8 Superboat drivers in the country.

Born out of necessity in New Zealand in the 1950s as a way to negotiate the many shallow and rocky waterways scattered around the country, competition soon followed with the kiwis leading early development before Australia and the USA discovered the sport years later.
